Maybelline and Milani makeup review....

This one is for my makeup enthusiasts....

If you know me at all you will know I'm a budding makeup artist (i'm currently in school for it so when I start doing it professionally I have some real training under my {makeup brush} belt.) and I also have started working with Influenster where they send me products and I get to review them. Umm...yes please!!  (If you are interested in signing up, head over HERE and get started! Just choose a night when your relaxing with your feet up in front of netflix and answer their questions as they get to know you, and then wait to see if you're chosen! It's literally thrilling...i'm hoping that's not just because i'm a mum! hahaha!)
So before I show my makeup look that i've created for you, I wanted to show you my review on the product Influenster sent me. A full size Better Skin Powder from Maybelline....

{Influenster sent me the product but opinions and all words used to
describe the products performance are my own.} moving on to my personal review. I watch a bunch of different beauty gurus on YouTube and i've heard of Milani makeup so many times, I just rarely shop anywhere that sells it. So I had my husband drop me at Walgreens and CVS so I could run in, kid free, and grab some bits.
I picked up the Everyday Eyes Earthly Elements palette and the Foil Eye Shine palette in Florence. Oh my gosh! For the price point, and it being "drugstore" makeup these pallettes were {mostly} pigmented and apply like a dream! You can see in the swatches which ones weren't so pigmented, but the main colours you would use were beautiful. The foil shadows are a cream texture and so fun to play with. There are so many cute looks you could achieve with these palettes. I bought the foils because I saw that they had similar earthy colours and wanted to try layering it on top. This was my final look with the mattes as my base and finished off with a an eye catching shimmer.
I paired it with an overdrawn dark purple lip. I overdrew as an experiment, I have a very thin top lip and have wanted to try it to see what it would look like. It was fun to see, but not a look that I like as far as doing it with makeup. I would consider lip injections as it is something that personally bothers me about my face, but as far as "overdrawing" Kylie Jenner style, it isn't my thing. At least I can say i've tried it.

Everyday Eyes Earthly Elements palette and the Foil Eye Shine palette in Florence by Milani.
You're welcome Barne's and Noble workers/goers....I had a full face on after doing this look this morning before leaving the house, including lippy that really dressed up my yoga pants and tank. Felt like quite the sight chasing after the kids hunting for the books they wanted while looking like this! haha!

Swatches on left are "foils" the rest from the Earthly Elements Palette.

What do you guys think of the look? Do you think this still counts as natural even though it's a little more "out there", or is this a super glam look for you?
What are your favourite Milani products you think I need to try?

I have a few exciting things I need to blog about here soon, as soon as I can share I will...but for now, I hope everyone is having a great positive week and looking forward to the weekend. We have our baby turning 2 and i'm trying to keep it together! haha! Will update the blog with party pics, of course.

Stay well, Jessie xoxo

First {YouTube} video tutorial...

Hi Friends,

I finally did it, I finally bit the bullet and put aside all my confidence issues and made my first video. It is flawed, I make awkward derp faces, I drop things, the baby tugs on me and makes me slip up but it is real. Haha!! It is an accurate representation of me putting my makeup on every morning. The one thing I would do differently would be to set up my camera to film me instead of hold it, and on the horizontal...duh!!

Anyways...enjoy the video and give it a "thumbs up" on the bottom right if you liked it. I'm going to be posting more videos so if you'd like to be kept in the loop go ahead and subscribe to get the updates of new videos posted. Tonight will be a product review on a Maybelline face powder sent to me by Influenster, so stay tuned for that.

If any of you guys have a YouTube channel or a blog you'd like me to check out, please leave the link in the comments below. I'd love to get to know you!

Stay well, Jessie xoxo

Pamper night {Face masks}

I told you i'd be back with my face mask here I am!

I asked you all some questions at the end of my last post, and so here are my answers:

My favourite kind of mask is a peel-off because, let's face it, who doesn't enjoy the whole peeling it off thing!? I also love those clay ones that bubble up. Have you tried those? I had a really scrumptious one by Bliss a few months ago. But as far as whether I go high end....not really! I hit up my local T.J Maxx and find their bargains. Occasionally they have a high end brand that is super cheap so I sneak that in, but I usually end up with a selection of the one time use packets so I can change it up. I get in de-stress ones, or break out ones, brightening or firming etc.

Last night I enjoyed a peel-off green tea mask and it was awesome. It applied super easily, I've learned over experience with peel-offs to never go to thick or it won't dry. Just a thin even layer where your skin is entirely covered will work the best. I left it on for about 20mins and then began to peel it off. After it was all off my skin felt refreshed and tight and sooooo clean.

Don't forget to remove your make up before you mask up....I LOVE these Olay wipes,
they remove all my makeup without leaving that horrid stinging sensation....
they feel gentle while staying effective. Also, a cute clip to keep the fringe pinned back...
peel off masks getting stuck in your hair...Nope!!!

Ready for a pamper night, cute dressing gown? Check!
Clean makeup free face? Check!
Hair tied back and fringe pinned back? Check!

So here is what a thin layer looks like. Still transparent,
but a verrrry sheeny shiny plastic looking face! Haha!!

Ahh!! Here I am in all my no makeup glory! YIKES!!
This was after mask was off, before I moisturized.
Looking fresh and clean!

I let it breathe with nothing on for the remainder of the show I was watching and then put on my regular moisturizer.

This is the moisturizer I's thick and feels luxurious on my skin.

Woke up this morning with skin feeling soft and fresh! I needed a timeout last night, and a bit of reality trash tv and a face mask seemed to do the trick.

Hope you get some time to relax this weekend!

Stay well, xoxo

Healthy dinners....let's do this!

Quick post to share my dinner! Haha!! I always mean to post when I eat something that I think you guys would like, so here I am...finally doing it. Even posting iphone pics, which is unheard of for me. Yikes!

So {again} I am trying to budge this weight I gained with my pregnancies and due to me having endo/'s not an easy task. I am not great at the whole exercise thing right now because quite simply, it hurts. I have so much scar tissue and my organs have been slowly fusing together due to it all, and so any medium/high impact workouts are agony to me.

However, I can't use this excuse entirely because I could do yoga, pilates or something else low impact, i'm just not motivated enough/super lazy at the end of the day after dealing with the 5 kiddos and all their needs. I think when we move to Florida I might feel more inspired and motivated to get that swimsuit bod, and plus, Clyde will be around so I will be able to get out to the gym/run around the block if needs be. So for now, I'm just trying to get my diet in order...

Over the next couple weeks I'm going to share some of my favourite things to eat when i'm trying to do the best things for my body in hopes that it might give you some ideas, and i'd LOVE to get links to your recipes too, so share in the comments and i'll check them out.

Tonights dinner:                              Avo salad (aka: basic guac)   .....

1 medium cubed avo.
2 medium chopped toms.
Chopped red onion (however much you like)
Chopped basil (I was all out, ugh.)
Juice of half a lime
(use the other half squeezed in a glass of ice water...SOOO good and beneficial!)
Himalayan pink salt to taste.
Combine and eat alone or with a healthy cracker/rice cracker

Green bean "fries".
Pre-heat oven to 450F
Handful of green beans (de-stalked and washed)
Your choice of seasoning
Olive or Avo. oil

Lay beans on tray, drizzle with oil (go easy!) and sprinkle seasoning on. Change it up and experiment to find your favourite combo.
Bake in oven for 12-18mins (or until they look good to you...I like mine a little crispy)

Seriously...these replace fries for me, like they are AS good! Make sure you get good quality beans, and I promise, for a quick go-to snack, these are FAB and super satisfying. that's it for food for now....

......but before I go I just wanted to share some pics from a little impromptu newborn photoshoot that I did the other day. This little guy came for a visit to my house the other day and I just had to snap some pics. He's just scrumptious, isn't he? I figured we can all do with some baby deliciousness in our day,'re welcome! ;)

If you are on a bit of a health kick too at the moment, please stay in touch, i'd love to hear progress reports, give pep talks if you need a friend to encourage you or get in on your tasty but healthy recipes! (keep them simple...i'm a mama of the end of the day, I can't be dealing with multiple step dinners...but let's share!) Feel free to share your blog in the comments, or your Instagram and i'll come follow. Don't forget to follow me too! My links are in the sidebar. Comment on a pic and make yourself known, I want to get to know my readers.

Well i'm off for a face mask and to catch up on UK Big Brother....if the face mask is a good one i'll give you a little review tomorrow. What's your favourite face mask? Peel off? Clay? Which brand? High End? Drugstore?

Stay well,

Jessie, xoxo

Stuffed pasta shells {Family Dinner}

What's for dinner? Need a nice "from scratch" (kind of....I mean I didn't make the pasta...cuz....nope!) meal? This one is a crowd pleaser!

I based my recipe off this one HERE from Whole Foods website.
I just tweaked it here and there with herbs I chose to use, and I added mascarpone too. So halved the ricotta and made up the rest with mascarpone, just for a little added flavour and texture.
I resentfully made my own marinara, as it wasn't until I'd gotten halfway through and realized I was out. Don't do that. Always check your cupboards beforehand...don't do a me.'s step by step pics of what I did, as I always find it helpful.
It was super yummy and ALL the kids, baby included, LOVED it!
(I made extra so we had leftovers for later in the week too....always try to do that with homemade'll thank yourself when you've had a tough day and don't have to buy pizza!)

*Bon Appetit!*
